چکیده

A queuing subsystem is proposed to the round robin receiver/transmitter (RT ) optical code-division multiple-access (OCDMA) protocol. The corresponding state diagram and its mathematical model are outlined. We prove that significant improvement in terms of system throughput and blocking probability can be achieved by only adding a single buffer at each user node. Furthermore, the modified RT protocol can support higher traffic loads with acceptable delay and good efficiency.

Proposal of an Optical CDMA Random Access Protocol

A new random access protocol for optical code division multiple access (CDMA) communication systems is proposed. Stop & wait automatic repeat request (ARQ) is implemented at the optical link layer. A detailed state diagram and a mathematical model based on the equilibrium point analysis (EPA) technique are presented. Several performance measures are evaluated under different network parameters....

Simulation of Real SAC-OCDMA under Both S-ALOHA and <I>R3T</I> Random Access Protocols

We simulate both the throughput and the delay of an experimental 7×622 Mbps SAC-OCDMA system. Our results reveal that the RT protocol performs better than S-ALOHA CDMA protocol and provides a 4.5 dB improvement.

Buffer Aggregation: Addressing Queuing Subsystem Bottlenecks at High Speeds

Modern routers and switch fabrics can have hundreds of input and output ports running at up to 10 Gb/s; 40 Gb/s systems are starting to appear. At these rates, the performance of the buffering and queuing subsystem becomes a significant bottleneck. In high performance routers with more than a few queues, packet buffering is typically implemented using DRAM for data storage and a combination of ...

The effects of power control on the optical CDMA random access protocol

In this work, the performance of the hybrid system that combines the distributed power control algorithm (DPCA) with the random access protocol as a novel and simple scheme of achieving a high performance in decentralized optical code division multiple access (OCDMA) networks has been investigated. The multiple access interference (MAI) and the near-far problem effects have been considered. The...
